That’s why we offer dentistry that is fast and convenient for our patients. We offer CEREC dentistry in Coeur d’Alene, ID for dental work that can be completed in one very short office visit.
What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics and is a type of CAD/CAM technology. CAD/CAM technology is the latest in the dental field and allows for patients to have traditionally lengthy dental work completed in just one visit. The technology relies on advanced computers that can quickly design and create dental restorations.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
This technology is popular for both dentists and patients alike. Here are just some of the benefits of choosing CEREC Dentistry:
It is faster and creates restorations in mere minutes while the patient relaxes
It provides precise and intricate dental restorations
There is no need for temporary crowns or fillings
CEREC restorations do not harm surrounding, healthy teeth
CEREC provides 17 shades of color to match surrounding teeth
Dental work is often less time consuming for the dentist which makes it less costly
Patients do not have to return to the office for a second visit to have the restoration placed
CEREC dentistry has an extremely high success rate
No molds are necessary, meaning no goopy substance is poured into your mouth
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Patients who take advantage of this incredible technology are often surprised at the ease and speed of the process.
First, the patient comes in for a certain issue. The underlying issue determines the initial stage of the CEREC process. For example, if a patient is suffering from a cavity, the dentist must first rid the tooth of decay. If a patient is receiving dental implants, the damaged tooth must first be extracted.
After the initial stage is completed and the patient is prepped, Dr. Kent Mosby will scan the tooth to collect a series of images. These images are then sent to the CEREC computer where a digital impression of your restoration is made. This digital impression is then sent to the “milling unit”.
The milling unit carves away at a block of ceramic material until a natural looking restoration is created- in just minutes! Dr. Mosby will then be able place the restoration to complete the entire procedure in just one sitting.
WHAT KINDS OF PROCEDURES ARE USED IN CEREC DENTISTRY?
At our office, we incorporate CEREC dentistry in a wide variety of procedures for timely and relaxing dental work. Here are just a few of the procedures we can complete in just one sitting with the CEREC technology.
CROWNS Crowns are the most popular CEREC procedure. Crowns are necessary in many dental treatments such as root canal treatment, filling a cavity, restoring a damaged tooth, hiding stained teeth, etc. When a patient needs a crown, we can prepare the tooth, scan the remaining structure and have the crown created in just minutes. After placing the crown, the patient is free to leave the office- often in under 2 hours. If you are looking for CEREC crowns in Coeur d’Alene, visit Dr. Mosby today.
VENEERS The CEREC veneers process begins with Dr. Mosby removing a tiny portion of the natural tooth’s enamel. This is done solely to prevent a bulky looking smile and to make room for the veneer itself. Once this is done, a scan of the tooth sends images to the computer where the CEREC technology designs and creates the perfect veneer in just a few minutes. Once completed, Dr. Mosby can place the veneer that day.
IMPLANTS Dental implants are the ideal tooth replacement option. Traditionally, this procedure can take months to complete but with CEREC technology, the process is shortened considerably. The CEREC computers and digital imaging of the jaw area provide us with precise, guided placement of the implant.
INLAYS AND ONLAYS Inlays and onlays are both treatments that restore a damaged or weakened tooth. The impressions needed to create both are produced via digital images of the affected tooth. That impression is then sent to the milling unit where the inlay or onlay is carved out of a block of material and placed onto the patient’s tooth.
